What started as an Athletic Master Plan for Cayuga Community College evolved into a creative solution benefitting both the College as well as the local minor league baseball team. The existing Falcon Field was renovated to accommodate the needs of both the Auburn Doubledays baseball team as well as the athletic teams at neighboring Cayuga Community College. In the summer, the field serves as a traditional baseball field for the Auburn Doubledays season. In the fall and spring, the turf is capable of being transformed into a field that can accommodate men’s and women’s soccer, men’s and women’s lacrosse, and softball. It is rewarded to see how landscape architecture can support the needs of multiple programs and can bring the community together.

  • Redesign of a natural grass baseball field to accommodate the needs of both the City’s professional league baseball team as well as the athletics program at neighboring Cayuga Community College and the Auburn community.
  • Replacement of the existing natural grass baseball field with a synthetic turf multi-sport field.
  • In addition to baseball, the synthetic turf was designed to be capable of hosting men’s and women’s lacrosse, men’s and women’s soccer, and softball.
  • Synthetic turf bullpen areas with clay mounds.
  • Clay mound and home plate area.
  • New fencing and gates.
  • Replacement of wall padding.
  • Height and layout adjustments to outfield wall.
